The Windmill Rides are part of Cycling UK's Challenge Ride Series and take place in June. This is the shorter of the two routes and a pleasant day out for even moderately fit cyclists. 

This route is a beautiful and relatively undemanding ride through the Essex countryside into Cambridgeshire and back to Chelmsford in Essex. Enjoy visiting honeypot villages, medieval buildings, vernacular architecture, country cottages, quintessential English pubs and lovely undulating landscapes on lovely quiet lanes - all not far beyond the M25. Note there is one stretch of a few miles on the busy but wide B1383 near Saffron Walden in Essex.
