The Big Bike Revival

The Big Bike Revival is all about helping everyone and anyone to begin or return to cycling through a programme of FREE activities and services, delivered by local community organisations
Aiming to make cycling accessible to everyone

Cycling UK has been supporting cycling since 1878 and our development team are experts in engaging communities and encouraging more people to start cycling.

The Big Bike Revival has a vision to make cycling accessible to everyone. Our mission is to deliver free events that enable people to start cycling through fixing bikes, teaching skills and leading rides.

The project takes place across England and offers a programme of events delivered locally by community groups and organisations that are FREE for all.

Through fun, social and inclusive activities we’ll help make cycling become a normal transport option and inspire people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to discover the joys of cycling.

You can read all about the impact of the Big Bike Revival in our 2022 summary.

The programme is funded by Department for Transport and supported by local authorities. Together we address a clear set of aims and objectives:

When I first went out I was scared because it had been a long time since I had done it. I was knackered when I got to the end of the ride but I keep going out and now I am noticing I am going further and getting fitter

Based on behaviour change theory

The Big Bike Revival is guided by the COM-B model of behaviour change. COM-B is a comprehensive theory of three interactive behavioural elements: capability, opportunity and motivation.

Big Bike Revival events provide solutions that enable behaviour to change and cycling levels to increase.

Big Bike Revival is amazing!
