Description

If you are a keen cyclist or even just fancy taking part, the Rocks & Wheels Cycle Challenge is for you. Rocks & Wheels is running its own cycling event on April 23rd, 2023, which is open to absolutely anyone who wants to enjoy a great day out riding through the beautiful Dumfries and Galloway countryside. At the same time, riders will be raising funds for the Rocks & Wheels /Dalbeattie Community Initiative project to develop the redundant primary school in Dalbeattie into an outdoor activity centre.

Using a little fundraising pedal power, you'll be able to support this amazing project which promises to transform Dalbeattie and create economic, tourism and healthy lifestyle opportunities for the Granite town.

The Initiative was previously involved in the organisation behind the Solway Sportive. This new event is an opportunity to experience some of the same roads, but riding in a reverse direction, including some new quieter sections with stunning views.

The two routes, Yellow 59km (37 miles) and Blue 113km (70 miles) use the same roads with an extra loop to extend the distance for the Blue route.

The rides start and finish at Dalbeattie's Birchvale Theatre which has free parking, changing and washing facilities.

There will be one feeding station on the short route and two feeding stations on the longer route. Food and drinks will be provided for all participants at the finish.

The event is suitable for everyone with a reasonable level of fitness depending on the route entered. Timed certificates will be presented to all finishers.
