Manchester Sightseer Ride and AGM - Saturday 14th May 2022

Join us to ride down Every Street in Manchester! (and Stuart Street, and Old Mill Street and …)

  • See where the Gunpowder Plot was, er, plotted.
  • Come and sit with Alan Turing.
  • Ride down Sir Alex Ferguson Way and Sir Matt Busby Way.
  • Explore a city famous for the Bee Gees, Chopin and Bob Dylan.
  • Come and ride the Manchester Sightseer

I was challenged to come with a bike ride through a city that prides itself on being cycling friendly; where Sarah Storey DBE is the Cycling Commissioner (having taken over from Chris Boardman MBE); where British Cycling has its home.  I was also reminded of the area’s rich history when Tony Walsh read his poem “This is the Place” in the aftermath of the bombing of the Manchester Arena.

Could I create a safe and interesting ride?  I like to think the answer is: yes!

Manchester & District CTC will introduce the Manchester Sightseer on Saturday 14th May 2022.  We’ll meet up for a coffee at 9:30, then have a guided tour around the city centre on cycle-friendly roads, canal tow paths and former railway lines.  We’ll tailor the distance to suit whoever turns up.  We’ll finish for lunch at a suitable café, then we’ll have our AGM at St Cross Church in Clayton, starting at 2:30, so you can tell us how much you enjoyed the ride, the company, and cycling in the city, and whether you’d like more rides like this.

If you think you’d like to give this a go, please us know at Secretary@ManchesterCTC.co.uk
