Happy days are here again - 2nd update!

**Re-sending yet again. Technology not going well today**

I hope that despite the rather disappointing weather in recent weeks that you are enjoying your cycling. The good news is that the weather looks to be improving, getting drier, less windy and warmer - hooray!

Our group rides continue presently with up to eight people. We are grateful to the ride leaders for putting on a ride and to the attendees for supporting the leader.  A few hours out in the company of other like-minded people is so much more enjoyable than any solo ride. Since 17th May, it is now possible to sit inside a cafe although space is sometimes limited. It may be worth checking with the cafe is see if its possible to book a table if planning a cafe stop.

Can I please ask that someone will please put together a very brief report after a ride. Please include a photo or two and send it to calendar@southamptonctc.org.uk. One of us will then add to the website. It's often good to look back at the reports and relive those happy memories. Have a look at "Previous Events" page to get an idea of what is required.

The Rides Calendar

Chris will shortly be publishing the rides calendar for the next few months. There's a good variety of rides to suit all, by the look of it.

Can I please remind ride leaders that once the spreadsheet is published to the ride calendar, no more rides must be added to the spreadsheet as they will not appear in the calendar. If you want to add a ride or amend any details then please email calendar@southamptonctc.org.uk so that the calendar can be updated.

New to cycling? Want to take a family on an easy ride?

if so, Ali Baker is leading a 20 mile ride to Hamble on Saturday, 3rd July; it leaves from the Hawthorns Centre on Southampton Common at 11.00am. It is an easy-paced ride and suitable for all.

Ordnance Survey maps

David Cotton has 26 Ordnance Survey maps surplus to requirements. Please see the attachment to see what he has available and email David if interested.

The Photo Competition

Please remember that voting for the Photo Competition closes on 31st May so you have just a few more days to get your votes in. The photos and details on how to vote are here. There are many beautiful photos there; I have found it quite difficult to rank them in the right order.

The Future

It is expected that HM Government will lift the remaining restrictions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic on 21st June and we are looking to see how we will move forward in line with the lifting. We have a Committee Meeting a few days after this and we will be publishing updated guidance for group rides following that.

Here's to the warmer weather coming any day now!

Happy cycling.

Alan
