The announcement of speakers for this year's annual cycle campaigners' conference has excited those in the field and shown the support of key stakeholders at all levels of government and other areas such as health, economics and transport. Further speakers will be announced as they are confirmed.

This joint CTC Cyclenation conference is still having extra speakers confirming their availability (such as Isabelle Clement who agreed over the weekend), which unfortunately we did not make clear in the above news story. That's very much our fault, and your reaction is therefore understandable.
I can assure you that we are not adding diversity to the line up at the last minute, and both CTC and Cyclenation are still waiting for confirmation from a number of other speakers. Should you wish to learn more please don't hesitate to give CTC a call and ask for me.

It is hard to interpret this as anything but a complete failure to take diversity seriously.
Even at the point of releasing the news story why haven't you got adequate procedures, training and standards for any and every person in the organisation who saw it to stop the release going out?

This is simply not the case. We had asked a diverse number of speakers beyond the panel presented, but unfortunately they were unable to confirm. Further speakers were confirmed over the weekend.
