As we are approaching the festive season and the end of a difficult year where cycling as a group has not really been possible due to the pandemic, there is not an awful lot to report.
We would normally be looking forward to the festive lunch, but again this will not be happening. Some of us were looking forward to the Spring Break in the Yorkshire Wolds, yet again we were disappointed. In March unfortunately we had to adhere to guidelines and cancel club runs.
Cancelling club runs meant that none of our challenge rides could take place, and the new points system for the Jack Harrison Trophy has had to be deferred to hopefully next year which is a shame as I was leading the points.
I know that some members have been riding in small groups where possible. We were fortunate to get away in our caravan on a number of occasions including going to Bridlington and doing some rides in the Yorkshire Wolds.
In August we tried to reinstate club riding by publishing a rides list, but as the second wave hit we only managed one ride before having to once again cancel club runs.
I hope that as things slowly return to “normal” next year we can once again return to club riding, possibly starting with shorter rides to enable people to get back into club riding.
It therefore remains for me to wish everyone A Merry and Safe Christmas and a Happy New Year.
