In this update, there are new rules for CTT racing regarding rear lights, what's on at the clubroom in Rishton, club rides for February and a quick look at the British Cycle Quest
Last year it was voted at the Cycling Time Trials national council that all competitors have a working rear light. Full details of guidance note 24 regarding the new ruling is available on their website now.
Blackburn & Dist CTC organise two time trials each year. There's a 2up team event on May 7th while on June 17th we hold a SPOCO on the Bashall circuit.
Next month sees the half term break at Rishton but we still have a few shows before then. This Thursday is John Cowburn talking about their trip to Iceland. John always puts together a great presentation and this is sure to be another entertaining evening. The following week is Anne & Tony Stott with their look at the Haweswater aqueduct. Similar to John, Anne & Tony always put together an intriguing show. On the 13th February we have Mick Jay with some real slides. He is showing us pictures he took whilst trekking in the Himalaya. After the half term break on the 27th, Ian Stott is talking about his trip to Colombia. After seeing his pictures on Instagram, I'm sure he'll have many tales to tell.
Last week at the club was another hugely successful prize presentation evening. Thanks to everyone who turned out and to all those who put in the work to make it a fantastic evening. And not forgetting congratulations to all the winners.
This Sunday is the 2nd of this year's Super Tourist rides. We're meeting at the car park in Ribchester at 9:30 and are riding to the Albert Edward dock. Alas I cannot promise the same weather as we had in the photo above! Other February rides include the Hoffman lime kilns at Stainforth, a gentle ride around Pendle country and a look around the drumlin field in the Aire Gap. Details of all rides and more are available on the Blackburn & Dist CTC home page.
I have been taking part in the British Cycle Quest since May 2012, with my wife Sue. Last August we were on Hungerford Common in Berkshire when we collected our 201st quest, which was the half way point of our BCQ. Why not take a look at the recently updated Cycling UK webpage for more details. Should you decide to make a start on the quest, you'll have years of rides ahead of you all over the British Isles with a great reason to get out and ride your bike.
That's all for now. I'm hoping to make these emails a monthly occurrence so that you are kept up to date yet not inundated with them. Should you require any further information, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Happy cycling everyone
Stew Clark
