Growing up in the Netherlands, Jasmijn Muller used to ride her bike to school and around town like any other Dutch child. But she didn't start cycling as a serious sport until she was in her early 30s and living in the UK.
Her first ride was a 100-mile fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, but the distance of Jasmijn’s cycling challenges have increased significantly since then and she is now one of the world’s foremost endurance cyclists.
She has set the Zwift static bike distance record, been national and world 24-hour time trial champion, ridden London-Edinburgh-London, Paris-Brest-Paris - as well as countless other Audax and endurance events - and had two Land’s End to John o’ Groats record attempts.
She’s more recently started competing in multi-day unsupported cycling races and continues to raise money for Cancer Research with her rides. She also enjoys sharing her love for cycling through volunteering at events organised by Kingston Wheelers and as a ride leader for BellaVelo.
Long distance cycling in particular is an area where women can shine.

Jasmijn said: “I like to ride my bike far and fast, for the thrill of speed and sense of independence, freedom and adventure. It gives me an escape from a stressful job as a management consultant.
“I love how cycling breaks through barriers; how it reinforces that we all have our strengths and weaknesses but can move fastest when we work together.
“I am passionate about equality and motivating other women to aim for the sky. Long distance cycling in particular is an area where women can shine, where we even have some advantages over men and where we can discover so much about ourselves and the world around us that is applicable not just to cycling but life in general.
“Conquer your fear of fast descends, gravel or lonely dark roads and suddenly that presentation at work or difficult life decision seems a bit less daunting.”
Jasmijn was nominated for 100 Women in Cycling by Robert Royston, who said: “Jasmijn is an inspirational long-distance cyclist who has found success in some astounding endurance events and never gives up her phenomenal riding challenges.”
Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling is an annual list celebrating inspirational women who are encouraging others to cycle.
