When James joined the staff at Musgrove Park Hospital 14 years ago, he set up the Faggiot cycle group to get the occasional cyclists on the team cycling more often. He organised weekend rides, mapping routes without any help from now-popular sites and cycling apps (they weren't as readily available back then!), and then made targeted efforts to get new cyclists outside and active.

His efforts have seen the club expanding to all over the UK, and even abroad. There are not over 100 riders in the Faggiot cycling group. 

Cycling UK's Volunteer of the Year Awards are given annually to recognise and celebrate all the incredible work volunteers do in encouraging others to start cycling and keep cycling.
