Jacqui Wilcox

Jacqui Wilcox is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2019 list for being a tireless advocate for cycling and helping people improve their mental health through learning to ride.

Jacqui works as a Cycle Training Manager for Life Cycle UK, a charity transforming lives through cycling. 

After working as an instructor for ten years, Jacqui has taught Bikeability to hundreds of Adults and Children. 

I feel lucky to share that experience with others and it is a really special moment when somebody learns to ride and begins to discover that for themselves

Jacqui said: “I have had the opportunity to support those who may find cycling more challenging, for example; leading rides for those with mental health issues, with visual impairments and for Young people from local Adventure Playgrounds. 

“There is nothing better than exploring and getting around by bike! It is really good for my wellbeing. 

“I feel lucky to share that experience with others and it is a really special moment when somebody learns to ride and begins to discover that for themselves.”

Jacqui Wilcox was nominated as one of the 100 Women in Cycling by Poppy Brett who said: “Jacqui is passionate about supporting people to cycle. Cycling helped her overcome a serious bout of depression that led her to volunteer for Life Cycle UK. 

“She has encouraged and supported hundreds of other people to cycle, teaching them the skills to feel confident on the road and to make cycling part of their lives.

“She leads regular rides to support returners to cycling and particularly supports people affected by a range a mental health issues to improve their wellbeing by getting out and about, and into nature on two wheels. 

She is a tireless advocate for cycling, and most definitely an unsung hero!
