Emily - a British inventor, industrial designer and entrepreneur - is one of the few female CEOs in cycling, developing the Beryl (formerly Blaze) Laserlights that are used for Santander hire bikes in London.
Emily developed the laser as part of a project in her final year at the University of Brighton and was entered into an entrepreneurship programme in Boston (funded by Santander). After graduating in 2011 she developed the project further, getting interest from Transport for London as well as securing funding from Richard Branson's family. She has created an innovative product for bikes and and grew her business based around an ethos of people before profit.
The company has a focus on environmental and wellbeing issues and seeks to create a positive changes to urban mobility and transport, with bike share and innovative safety products. Emily was awarded an MBE for her impressive achievements in business.
