Anne Glass - Runner-up

Anne Glass was shortlisted in the Exceptional Individual - Cycling Group category for Cycling UK's 2018 Volunteer of the Year Awards.

The Drumchapel Cycle Hub came into existence two years ago, and since then has become a flourishing centre for the local community.

This is due in no small part to Anne’s commitment to putting engagement with the local community first. She has been the one organising and driving the Drumchapel Cycle Hub from the beginning, in an area where there are high levels of deprivation and low levels of bike ownership. Her unflagging proactivity is an inspiration, and sees definite results.

Currently there are very popular weekly rides for women, weekly rides for all, learn to ride sessions for kids and more - all with a focus on getting those who would benefit from cycling on their bikes and enjoying their local countryside.

This has all happened due to Anne’s hard work and incredible care for her community.

Cycling UK's Volunteer of the Year Awards are given annually to recognise and celebrate all the incredible work volunteers do in encouraging others to start cycling and keep cycling.
