What insurance is included with Cycling UK membership?

Third-party liability insurance

By joining Cycling UK, you’ll automatically receive £10m third-party liability insurance provided by Butterworth Spengler Insurance Brokers. This will cover you if you damage another person or their property; for example, if you were to accidentally cause injury to a fellow rider or hit a car.

Legal assistance

Cycling UK membership includes access to our personal injury incident line on a no-win, no-fee basis. Our legal partner Cycle SOS does not charge a success fee, so members keep 100% of any compensation.

Cycling UK members get exclusive deals on cycle insurance with Yellow Jersey, or specialist combined bike and home insurance policy with Pedal Cover. There are offers for short-term cover and renewal discounts, too. 

Travel insurance for cycling

If you’re planning a holiday or short trip, your standard insurance policy may not specifically cover cycling. Members receive 15% off policies with specialist cycle travel insurers Yellow Jersey.

Cycle Activity Provider (CAP) membership

Specialist cycle activity provider insurance for instructors or individuals organising cycling activities is provided by Butterworth Spengler Insurance Brokers through a membership, discounted for Cycling UK members.

Organisers’ liability insurance for groups, clubs and workplaces 

Cycling UK’s £10m organisers’ liability insurance, provided by Butterworth Spengler Insurance Brokers, covers event organisers, ride leaders and volunteers against any claims made against them as a result of their negligence.

By joining Cycling UK as an affiliated group or through employer membership, your group will automatically be covered by this policy.

Free special events insurance: if you register an event under one of Cycling UK’s summer cycling initiatives – Bike Week or Big Bike Revival – you’ll receive event and ride insurance cover for free.
