Pot Luck Lunch at Dirleton

Group ride
Description

Hello,

Our last Wednesday cycle before Christmas is to Direlton.

The outward journey is only about 20 miles so we should arrive at noon for our extended festive lunch break until 1.30pm.

For anyone who hasn’t been before it's a pot luck lunch where you bring some food for sharing.

The return journey will be more direct if perhaps a little slower. There will be an option of a tea break at Luca’s on our return to Musselburgh.

To ensure safe riding do read and follow our riding guidelines:

http://www.ctclothiansandborders.uk/riding-guidelines/

Please also ensure that your bike is in good condition and you are prepared for the prevailing weather conditions. In particular check your lights and brakes are working. Do bring a puncture repair kit and two inner tubes.

Please carry emergency contact details and ice on your mobile. I shall compile an attendance sheet on the day.

My mobile  number is 07708353806 in case you need to contact me. You are riding at your own risk and whilst the group will always try to help out you are responsible for looking after yourself and getting yourself home.

The route is available from the link below although it may not be the exact route followed on the day:

https://www.mapmyfitness.com/routes/view/2341663546          A brief summary of the route:

We shall depart promptly from Fisherrow harbour at 10am. In addition to toilet facilities at Fisherrow we shall have a short stop at Port Seton toilets on route. We then head up and over the level crossing at St. Germains and onwards and up Bangly hill. We briefly join A6137 before turning right past Hopetoun monument and continuing through Athelstaneford passing Rogarth and turning left before the Merryhatton garden centre. We continue onto the B1347 for 2 miles before a quick left then right and another 2 mile downhill before crossing the  busy A198 and arriving at Direlton church hall.

Leaving Direlton as we arrived until the crossroads at Kingston farm steading where we turn right and continue until we cross the B1345 and pass Craigend cottages and Park Hills. We then turn left at the junction and continue until we turn right before Lufness Mains and onward to Aberlady. From here we join the A198 coast road back to Musselburgh for tea and home.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.

Regards
Alistair
