Winner: Best Cycling Group 2019 - Winchester CTC

Winchester CTC is the winner of the Best Cycling Group category for the 2019 Volunteer Awards. Winchester CTC's busy ride schedule and an army of volunteer ride leaders makes it a shining example of a thriving Cycling UK Member Groups.

With at least four different rides on offer every week, it's fair to say that Winchester CTC is a very busy group. The rides vary from shorter, easier-paced rides for novice cyclists through to faster, all-day affairs. This means the group is able to cater to almost every cyclist of any ability. The group also hosts several events throughout the year, including randonees, audax-style events and even multi-day trips to other parts of the country.

With so much going on, it's no surprise that the group has at least ninety-one registers ride leaders! The group also produces its own in-house check-lists to assist the ride leaders and its regular newsletter reaches over 450 people. It also uses social media such as Facebook and Twitter to great effect

Winchester CTC also produces its very own range of club branded clothing.

The group also takes an active role campaigning in and around Winchester and Hampshire and attends local events such as the Winchester Criterium and CycleFest.

Advocating for better infrastructure and access in the local area is a vital way a group can help more people get on their bikes and enjoy cycling.
